2008
Larry Luebbers hung around to pitch 12 minor league seasons, mostly in the 90's, after first pitching in college, winning 107 games in 285 minor league starts, only getting up to the big leagues three times. Leicester isn't quite as accomplished as Luebbers so far, but he's demonstrated that having a career like his is the extent of his own upside.
2006
Leicester pitched serviceably in relief for the Cubs in 2004, but struggled as a starter at Triple-A Iowa last season. He was traded to Texas in November, and that park won't help his cause even if he were to crack the rotation.
2005
Leicester fared about as well in the big leagues as he did at Triple-A last year, and actually cut down on his walks while nearly maintaining his robust strikeout rate. He was prone to the long ball, however, but there's some upside here if he keeps that under control.
2004
Leicester pitched serviceably out of the bullpen at Double-A a year ago, but his high walk totals and the surplus of quality arms in Cubs' system make him a longshot to contribute significantly this season.
2003
Leicester didn't pitch well at Double-A last season and is a long shot to make the Cubs in 2003.
