RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Justin Huisman.
The Royals acquired Huisman in early April after the Rockies tried to slip him through waivers. A month later the 25-year-old was in the middle of a reclamation project that was the Royals bullpen. He was given a chance to close but suffered the same fate as the rest and was sent back to Triple-A. Huisman was sent down four times during the season, showing he was good enough for Triple-A but not good enough to stick. He throws strikes, so the Royals will probably spend 2005 giving him more chances out of the bullpen.
Except for a 24-inning stretch at Double-A Tulsa in 2002, Huisman has posted an ERA under 2.00 at every stop in his minor league career. He could be a sleeper candidate for the Rockies bullpen and possibly even earn his way into the closer mix. He had 26 saves in 2003 for AA Tulsa, so it's not like he's coming from out of nowhere. The Rockies have a good one on their hands in Huisman and it's only a matter of time before he crack the big league bully for good.
