Barrett was outrighted off the 40-man roster and assigned to Triple-A Rochester, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. After missing the final month of the minor league season with a shoulder injury, he has a 1.69 ERA in 10.2 innings in the Mexican Winter League.

Barrett will be sidelined about a week after suffering a muscle cramp in his left shoulder, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports. He's 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA and 34:14 K:BB ratio in 30.2 innings for Triple-A Rochester.

2007

Barrett's season ended in late July due to an injury to his pitching elbow. Before that, he showed progress and struck out over a batter per inning. He could have a future as a lefty reliever in the big leagues. He'll need to show he's healthy next spring, but could get called up if injuries strike in the Twins' bullpen.

2006

Barrett struggled after his promotion to Triple-A and in the Arizona Fall League (9.00 ERA with a 9/13 K/BB ratio) and was exposed to the Rule 5 draft. He's a lefty that can throw in the mid-90s, but control has always been a problem (56 walks in 82 2/3 innings combined last season). He'll need a sharp turnaround to figure into Minnesota's plans
