Chuck Lofgren

Lofgren may have taken a step back from the standards he set in 2006, but a 21-yea-old holding his own in his first exposure to Double-A is promising. He struggled with control issues for much of the year, walking 71 in 151 innings and his overall numbers (4.58 ERA and a 1.510 WHIP) aren't exactly eye-popping but most scouts see it as a temporary step back. The 6-3 lefty offers a low-90's fastball with a solid curve and an excellent changeup, while his frame is such that he could still add a couple of ticks to his fastball. He may start out at Double-A to start the season, but Lofgren is expected to spend most of 2008 at Triple-A. Look from him to compete for a rotation spot by 2009 if all goes well for Lofgren at Buffalo.
