RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Luis Rodriguez.

2009

Rodriguez began last season at Triple-A Portland, where he was off to a hot start, hitting over .400 before fracturing his hand in mid-April. He missed 45 games on the disabled list and hit only .196 before being called up by San Diego in early July to fortify the bench. A couple of weeks later, Rodriguez became the everyday shortstop after Khalil Greene broke his hand punching an equipment chest. Rodriguez is a contact hitter devoid of speed and power but did hit a respectable .287 on the heels of a career-best average on balls in play. Rodriguez should return to a utility role where he has minimal fantasy value.

2008

Rodriguez will try to win a utility job with the Padres after being claimed off waivers last fall. He can play all four infield positions, but doesn't offer much power or speed.

2007

Rodriguez will try to keep his job as a utility infielder this spring. He can play all four infield positions, but doesn't offer much power or speed. With the Minnesota infield more settled than it's been in years, he won't find many at-bats even if he stays on the roster.

2006

Rodriguez will try to win a job as a utility infielder after holding his own in his big league debut last season. He gets on base at a decent clip and can play three infield positions, but doesn't hit for enough power to win a regular job or steal enough bases to help fantasy players in a limited role.

2005

Rodriguez hasn't had much hype as a prospect, but continues to post decent numbers each season. The Twins are thin on middle infield talent so he could get a look next spring after hitting a respectable .286/.356/.388 last season at Triple-A Rochester.
