2008
Trahern, a sinkerballer, posted a 2.57 groundout-to-flyout ratio at Double-A Erie, down from the 3.58 ratio he posted in 2006 at High-A. He needs to maintain a high groundball ratio to be successful as he doesn't have the stuff to overpower batters. The Marlins, who acquired him in the Miguel Cabrera trade, will probably start the year at Triple-A Albuquerque. A good start there could earn him a look in Florida this year.
2007
Trahern, a sinkerballer, doesn't sport a great strikeout rate but he held batters to a .238 average at high-A Lakeland last season and posted an impressive G/F ratio of 3.58. Not to say that he'll be as good as one of these guys but that’s Brandon Webb/Derek Lowe territory. Trahern is still a few years away from a major league debut but he's worth keeping an eye on.
