2013

2010
Burns got eight starts with the Brewers in 2009 mainly due to an injury collapse of the Milwaukee rotation. The 31-year-old minor league veteran doesn't strike out enough pitchers to warrant a spot in a major league rotation and gives up way too many home runs to boot. He'll likely start out in the minors and wait for another chance to mop up in the majors.
2007
Burns' best work in 2006 came while pitching for Triple-A Louisville, where he posted a 1.90 ERA with a 47:12 K:BB in 52 innings. He appeared in 18 games between Cincinnati and Boston where he kept the high strikeout rate, but couldn't get outs. The candidates for Boston's bullpen have yet to shake out, but Burns' major league track record is not a good one.
2006
A minor-league veteran who has good command of average stuff. In a scrambled Reds bullpen, he makes for a solid middle-relief play with some small closer upside.
