2013
There was no outlook written for Chris Duncan.
2009
Duncan continues to have problems staying healthy as he missed half of 2008 due to a severe neck injury. Even more disappointing was that his power seemed to abandon him. With Rick Ankiel, Ryan Ludwick, and Skip Schumaker all healthy, and Colby Rasmus trying to win a job in the Cardinals outfield, Duncan's days could be numbered in St. Louis.
2008
Despite missing 35 games and hitting just .259, Duncan was probably the second-most productive offensive player on the Cardinals last year. A sports hernia hobbled him for nearly two months before he finally elected to have season-ending surgery in September. He should be fully recovered by December and ready for spring training. Duncan still needs to show some improvement against lefties before he can truly play every day, but he's got enough raw power to be capable of hitting 35-40 home runs if he puts it all together.
2007
Duncan, the son of Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan, heard cries of nepotism early last season. He then went out and proved that he belonged in the majors, blasting 22 home runs and slugging .589 in 280 at-bats. He should probably cut down a bit on the strikeouts, but that's not out of the ordinary for a young power hitter. There are a number of options in the outfield for St. Louis in 2007, but if Duncan can repeat his 2006 performance, he could very well grab the starting left field job.
2006
The 6-5 Duncan has shown flashes of raw power in the minors and during a cup of coffee with the Cardinals. He's made the switch to the outfield to better his chances at landing a roster spot in 2006, but is most likely headed back to Triple-A for more seasoning.
