2010
Once the potential left fielder of the future for the Braves, Jones' career has stalled after two disappointing seasons. He didn't improve with his power, which has been his major drawback. It wasn't a good sign for his future in the organization when he wasn't called up last season after several injuries in the outfield in Atlanta. He'll get a chance to compete for a bench spot with the Pirates during spring training after being acquired through waivers in January.
2009
Jones was seen as the potential left fielder of the future for the Braves before last season, but his stock has fallen after disappointing numbers at Triple-A and his first exposure to the big leagues. He has good power potential and good overall tools, but strikes out far too often. Jones could platoon with Matt Diaz in left field, but he's not a sure bet to make the major league roster out of spring training.
2008
Jones is Atlanta's top hitting prospect and could contend for a big league job as early as 2008. He hit .295/.367/.490 with 19 home runs and 17 stolen bases between Double-A and Triple-A before a late September call up to the big leagues. Jones has major power potential from the left side and good overall tools, but needs to reduce his strikeouts (120 last season). He could win the starting job in left field or stay in the majors as a reserve outfielder. He's a top prospect for keeper leagues in any scenario.
2007
Jones hit .264/.328/.445 between High-A and Double-A last season, but was a little old for his league. He doesn't appear to have a high ceiling since he doesn't have a lot of power or speed, but a full season at Double-A will give us a better read.
