Although the scrappy Robinson made a little noise in camp in 2010, he hasn't done much to show the St. Louis brass that he deserves anything more than a spot at the end of the bench. He had just that during a late-season cup of coffee, but he didn't get a single hit in seven at-bats. A fractured orbital bone suffered in an outfield collision shortened a promising year in Triple-A Memphis, but he was also 26 and playing in Memphis for the fourth season in a row.
2010
Robinson was an afterthought heading into spring training last year, but he seemed to come up with one key hit after another. Manager Tony La Russa remembered him and gave him a brief cup of coffee in May, but there's not much on Robinson's resume to indicate that he can stick in the majors. He has some speed, and he's tough to strike out, but he also has no power and a low batting average.
