2009
Lewis went 6-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 13 starts at Double-A and 2-2 with a 2.62 ERA in four starts at Triple-A before getting a short audition for Cleveland in September. Lewis isn't going to blow anyone away with his fastball and he'll have to rely on control and command to succeed once the league gets a good look at him. He'll have a chance to win a spot in the back of the Cleveland rotation but doesn't figure to be anything more than a fourth or fifth starter with limited upside.
2008
Lewis turned in another fine season again in 2007, despite just a 7-9 record. In his first exposure to Double-A, the 23-year-old southpaw struck out 121 in 134.2 innings. Tommy John surgery may have pushed him back a year but he's quickly making up for lost time, following up a 2006 campaign in which he led the entire minor leagues with a 1.48 ERA. He should start 2008 at Triple-A but projects as nothing more than a No. 4 starter down the road. He passed the Double-A litmus test for strike-throwing lefties but we'll see how well he fares at Triple-A.
2007
The former Buckeye had a breakthrough in High-A Kinston last year, allowing only 84 hits and 28 walks in 115.2 innings, while striking out 123. He should be in Double-A Akron at some point in 2007, with a long-term outlook of Cleveland sometime in either 2008 or 2009.
