2008
Day opened some eyes with 48 strikeouts in 25 innings to open the season at Double-A but found it tough sledding when he was called up to Chicago. He finished with an 11.25 ERA and a 2.333 WHIP for the South Siders in what was a disastrous bullpen for the White Sox. Until he can improve his control, hitters will simply wait around for a 2-1 cookie down the middle and tee off. If he breaks camp as a member of the White Sox bullpen it's more of an indictment of their bullpen rather than an endorsement of his skill.
2007
Day was the last player selected in the minor league phase of the 2005 Rule 5 draft after missing much of the 2005 season with elbow ligament transplant surgery. He showed he is fully healed, striking out 63 in 47+ innings for high-A Winston-Salem. His performance in the Arizona Fall League (7.71 ERA, 1.71 WHIP) shows he has more work to do.
