2009
Midway through his fifth year in the Houston farm system, Reineke was dealt to San Diego as a part of the deal that sent Randy Wolf to the Astros. The Padres called up Reineke in mid-August as their rotation was decimated by injury. Reineke made three starts, moved to the bullpen then missed all of September with shoulder discomfort. He is expected to be healthy this spring and compete for a rotation spot where he is an intriguing candidate based on his 113:41 K:BB in 129.2 combined Triple-A innings, even though he served up 20 homers during that span.
2008
Reineke appeared in 32 games (16 starts) for Triple-A Round Rock last season, going 5-5 with a 4.68 ERA. He projects as a middle reliever in the majors, and has an outside shot to make the big league club out of spring training.
