2013
There was no outlook written for Brett Carroll.
2010
Just as it was starting to look like Carroll might be a Quad-A player (too good for the minors, not good enough for the majors) he goes out and struggles against both PCL and big league pitching. Any chance Carroll might have had to establish himself as a regular for the Marlins has probably passed, and he'll either stick around as a fourth outfielder and defensive replacement, or look for work elsewhere.
2009
Carroll eviscerated Pacific Coast League pitching to start the season, only to languish on the bench after a callup and then separate his shoulder to effectively end his season. A broken hand in winter ball continued his misfortune, and while Carroll still has a little bit of a prospect sheen about him, he's more likely to wind up back in Triple-A New Orleans than with a big league bench starting job, or even a role on the bench. A couple months of good health and good production will get him back in the Marlins plans, however.
2008
Carroll put up good numbers at Triple-A, but given the great hitting environment in Albuquerque and his previous minor league track record his sudden display of power has to be taken with a grain of salt. He strikes out a ton and doesn't walk enough, so while he's turning just 25 this year there's little on his resume so far to distinguish him.
