Ahrens, a first-round selection out of high school by the Blue Jays in the 2007 draft, had a rough professional debut after signing quickly. He hit just .230/.339/.321 in 165 at-bats, but did manage 25 walks along the way. He projects well defensively and could end up at shortstop, which would be a nice bonus.
