Bernero's stuff caught the eye of Bobby Cox in spring training, and after a hot start with the Braves (2.08 ERA in April) there was even talk about him taking over the closer role. However, Bernero's inability to keep the ball in the park and his walking too many batters led to his release in September. He'll try to win a job in the Kansas City bullpen, but there's not much upside considering Leo Mazzone couldn't work miracles with his live arm.
