RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014-15

There was no outlook written for Brian Scalabrine.

2009-10

In a contract year, the ninth-year pro will remain a small role player - provided the frontline stays healthy - who needs to continue his heady play when the opportunities are given.

2008-09

The little-used Scalabrine – signed to a five-year deal that runs through the 2009-10 season – serves mostly as a reminder that Danny Ainge wasn't always the genius who pulled off the Garnett and Allen trades.

2007-08

Scalabrine made roughly $3 million last year to average four points and less than two rebounds while missing 28 games with various injuries. He will make the same amount of money until 2010, and there is a probability that those numbers will decline over time. While it is said that Scalabrine does the “little things” needed on a team, none of those little things transfer to the fantasy arena. Fantasy owners should exhibit the restraint that Danny Ainge could not and avoid Scalabrine.

2006-07

Scalabrine was a disappointment with a capital B-U-S-T last year and has a lot to prove in 2006-07. Management insists the average fan cannot see the true value in Scalabrine's efforts, but you cannot argue the numbers. The veteran forward averaged 13.2 minutes, which, we are pretty sure are not worth $3 million a year. He needs to play his way into that contract or he'll eventually be one of those albatross contracts on Boston's books.

2005-06

Was signed to a 5-year deal in the offseason and will be asked to step in when Al Jefferson needs a rest. He will also fill into the small forward rotation when Boston goes big. Either way, he will likely see more than the 21.6 minutes he saw with New Jersey last year. Expect an increase in production across the board for Scalabrine.

2003-04

Coach Byron Scott loves Scalabrine's determination and hustle, but the red-headed forward won't receive many minutes among the Nets' big-name front court.
