Head coach Todd Graham says though Lewis has shown signs of consistency at tailback for the Sun Devils this spring, he needs to "have a better last five practices" in order to show he is willing to "step up" in this, his senior year, AZCentral.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Notes AZCentral.com, no one on ASU's coaching staff is questioning Lewis' talent, just his commitment to practice. The rising senior, who rushed for 301 yards (5.2 per carry) behind Marlon Grice and backup D.J. Foster, apparently continues to shown signs of maturity this spring, but says Graham, "I tell him, 'You (have to) quit showing signs. We got to get you up there consistently.'" Offensive coordinator Mike Norvell acknowledges Lewis had a strong scrimmage last Saturday and he his pleased with his overall production this spring. Still, claims Norvell, "It can't be five days on, one day off, it's got to be every single day."

2011
Lewis may still have his day as star of the Arizona State offense some day, but not in 2013 with Marion Grice and D.J. Foster around. Lewis was huge as a freshman in 2010, running for 539 yards (5.9 YPC) and four touchdowns while catching 23 passes for 370 yards (16.1 YPC) and two more touchdowns, but a gunshot wound derailed his progress since then. He should be ready to return to form in 2013, though he won't make much of a fantasy impact if Grice and Foster are on the field.
After being shot in the leg in a shooting in February of 2011, he missed the entire 2011 season. Now he is back and ready to play for his redshirt sophomore season and if he can replicate the production from his freshman year, he could be valuable in Pac-12 and deep leagues. Lewis averaged 5.9 yards per carry and was a constant big-play threat in his first season at Arizona State. On top of that, he can be a threat out of the backfield as a receiver, averaging more than 16 yards per reception. Cameron Marshall will limit Lewis' opportunities, but his per-play efficiency makes him a huge breakout candidate if Marshall misses any time.
Lewis was a big hit as a freshman last year, averaging 5.9 yards per carry while proving to be a superb receiving threat, posting 23 catches for 370 yards and two scores in 11 games. His value is limited by the presence of fellow talented runner Cameron Marshall, but both players are worth owning in Pac-12-only leagues. If Marshall misses any time with injury, Lewis becomes a must-start in basically all scenarios.
