Washington State: Connor Halliday Suffers Season-Ending Injury
November 1, 2014
Halliday suffered a season-ending broken right fibula Saturday against USC, coach Mike Leach confirmed after the game.
ANALYSIS
Halliday, who was in the midst of a prolific senior season, underwent surgery after the game, which will end his WSU career. The injury occurred in the first quarter when Halliday's leg got caught underneath rushing USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams, who told reporters after the game that he heard Halliday's leg "pop." Halliday set an FBS record with 734 yards passing against California earlier this season and entered the game with a nation-leading 3,833 passing yards. Luke Falk replaced Halliday and finished 38-of-57 for 370 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
Halliday will likely be the full-time starter this season after splitting time with senior Jeff Tuel in 2012, though Mike Leach mentioned that the competition between Halliday and freshman Austin Apodaca is pretty close. If Halliday wins the job, Leach’s offense is a quarterback’s dream, and Halliday showed he can put up big numbers when he threw for 494 yards and four touchdowns against Arizona State in 2011. Of course, Halliday did have accuracy problems last season, throwing 13 interceptions and only completing 52.2 percent of his passes.
Halliday is coming off a strong freshman campaign in which he threw for almost 1,000 yards in only four games (one start). His 2011 success included a 494-yard, four-touchdown game against Arizona State. However, Halliday looks like he will back up Jeff Tuel to start the 2012 season, as Tuel had a dominant spring (19-21-285-2-0) to help secure a starting spot. But if Tuel goes down, Halliday becomes a must-own in all leagues.
