November 29, 2015
Dixon only rushed for minus-4 yards on eight carries, but he did catch five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns Saturday against USM.
ANALYSIS
Dixon strangely struggled to run the ball down the stretch, but these touchdowns tie him for the FBS record for career touchdowns, and with a good bowl game he could end up with the record.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2013
You know the running back class is deep when you find Dixon this far down the board. While 28-touchdown running backs are hard to find, Dixon's 2014 seems like a best-case scenario. Dixon barely averaged 18 carries per game last year -- a modest figure for top-tier backs -- and his touchdown rate of one per 11.5 rushes (22 on 253) likely will regress if his four-score 2013 meant anything. Similarly, six receiving touchdowns on 30 receptions is unlikely to repeat. Finally, note that Dixon posted his numbers over 14 games -- he'll only play 12 in the fantasy season. It's also fair to wonder whether new quarterback Jeff Driskel is capable of running the offense.
The departure of coach Sonny Dykes might have doomed the Louisiana Tech program as a whole, but Dixon showed last year that he has the talent to produce even on a team that finds failure at every turn. The bruising 220-pound RB totaled 917 yards (6.1 YPC) in 10 games, twice hitting the 200-yard mark. He would have been even better if he hadn't dealt with recurring knee injuries. Three-fifths of Dixon's offensive line is back after losing four starters heading into last year, so it's possible that he'll see better blocking this season. The only concern is the poor offense around Dixon, which could make it hard for him to find the end zone again this year after five last season (four rushing, one receiving).
Dixon was one of the nation's absolute elite fantasy players at any position last year, piling up a ridiculous total of 28 touchdowns (27 rushing) on just 200 attempts. He's primed to be one of the more overdrafted players of this year as a result. That touchdown efficiency will drop drastically, especially with Louisiana Tech losing its star quarterback, star receiver, head coach and four fifths of its offensive line. Dixon should still hit double-digit touchdowns, but 20 is unlikely.
