Battling for role in backfield
Herndon (knee) is competing for carries in Florida's crowded backfield, Ryan Young of the AJC's SEC Country Blog reports.
ANALYSIS
Even though Herndon is one of the elder statesmen of Florida's backfield, it's difficult to see him getting carries over the likes of Jordan Cronkite, Jordan Scarlett, and Mark Thompson. Herndon was able to play in all 14 games last season, but he had just four total carries for 12 yards on the year. Now that he's fully healthy and two years removed from a torn ACL, Herndon figures to be more effective this season, but it's clear that he's towards the bottom of a loaded running back depth chart at Florida.
