Johnathan Loyd: Basketball Star Looking to Play WR
Loyd - Oregon's winningest basketball player - has been practicing with the Ducks' second-team units at punt return and receiver and is committed to playing for the football program in the fall, OregonLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
"I'm not coming on the team just to sit on the bench and cheerlead," says Loyd, who chose receiver after discussions with senior wideout and friend Keanon Lowe and position coach Matt Lubick. "I'm definitely trying to go as hard as I can and try to contribute to the team." Loyd was an all-state returner and cornerback in Nevada for Las Vegas' Bishop Gorman High as a senior and fielded scholarship offers from UNLV and Oklahoma. He hopes to try and fill the void left after junior receiver Bralon Addison was knocked out for the spring, and perhaps all fall, with an ACL injury last week.
