2023 Fantasy Outlook
There was no outlook written for Tino Sunseri in 2023. Check out the latest news below for more on his current fantasy value.
January 6, 2013
Sunseri had a pass picked off for the first time since September in the Compass Bowl loss to Ole Miss on Saturday. He was 16-of-32 for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
Sunseri had a streak of 271 straight passes without an interception. He also had his poorest completion rate of the season. Sunseri showed enough accuracy in his senior season to possibly be a backup quarterback on Sundays next year. At 6-2, he does not have prototypical size for an NFL quarterback.

Sunseri is very limited as a quarterback and won't get many passing opportunities in new coach Paul Chryst's run-heavy scheme, but he will improve on his per-play passing average and has enough skills as a runner to perhaps emerge as a decent backup option in Big East-only leagues, as well as a matchup-specific consideration outside of them. After throwing 10 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions last year, though, Sunseri's fantasy appeal is minimal for the most part.
Sunseri wasn’t especially impressive last year, showing little ability to make plays downfield. Luckily for him, the arrival of former Tulsa coach Todd Graham will shift the offense from a pro-style system to a spread system focused on short passes, which plays to Sunseri’s strengths. He’ll throw the ball a lot in 2011, so he could be worth ranking higher if he proves to pick up Graham’s system right away.
Sunseri is the favorite to take over as the Pittsburgh starting quarterback in 2010, but he's unlikely to be especially useful as a fantasy option. He did well as a sophomore in 2009, going 10-of-17 for 114 yards and two touchdowns, but he shouldn't be expected to play as well as Bill Stull did last year. Besides being much less experienced, star tight end Dorin Dickerson is gone. Furthermore, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh to throw the ball much when it can just lean on the dominant rushing attack of Dion Lewis and Ray Graham. Sunseri is probably a good backup option in Big East-only leagues, but otherwise he's only worth keeping an eye on.
