December 29, 2006
Walters (ankle) will not play on Sunday, according to the Arizona Republic.
ANALYSIS
He is listed as doubtful and did not practice on Thursday after he sprained his ankle during Wednesday's practice. Bryant Johnson will fill Walters' role as Arizona's top punt returner. Walters will be a free agent at the end of the season, so he will look to catch on somewhere as a No. 3 or 4 receiver and punt returner.

Won't factor in heavily as a receiver, but will push Eddie Drummond for kick and punt return duties.
Walters will compete with Bryant Johnson for the Cardinals' third receiver position. His biggest fantasy potential this season is as a punt returner. Walters is a leading candidate to return punts along with undrafted rookie Micheal Spurlock. He averaged 8.2 yards on 21 punt returns a year ago for Indianapolis. As a receiver, Walters is an occasional deep threat. He caught 14 passes in 2005 for three touchdowns and an average of 10.9 yards per catch. 9/3 Update: Walters is likely to serve as Arizona's top punt returner this season. He is the Cards' fifth wide receiver, but will open the season as the number four guy because LeRon McCoy (thumb) will probably miss all of September. Don't expect many catches from Walters, but he could be a solid option as a returner.
Walters will compete with Aaron Moorehead for the 4th WR role and with Brad Pyatt for the punt-return job.
Walters was productive in spots as the third receiver while Brandon Stokley was out but is viewed mostly as a punt returner.
Walters, who caught 18 passes for 207 yards last season, will likely start the season as the Colts' #4 receiver. Walters handled punts and kickoffs last season, and is the favorite to do so again in 2003, but first he must convince the Colts that the dropsies he experienced on special teams last year are a thing of the past.
