Re-signs with Redskins
DEWashington Commanders
September 13, 2016
Jenkins will re-sign with the Redskins on Tuesday, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Jenkins was released by the Redskins just two weeks ago, but due to Washington's abysmal performance on the defensive line Monday, the team will now rely on him to help turn things around. The 13-year vet has more experience than any current member of the Washington front seven. Last season, Jenkins tallied three sacks and 26 combined tackles in 16 games for the Giants.

Starting left defensive end, more of a run stopper than a pass rusher.
Starting defensive tackle, run-stopper.
Jenkins signed a three-year deal to be one of the team's starting interior linemen. He'll help clog running lanes and generate pressure up the pocket.
Jenkins is one of the league's more active disruptors on the interior, but his low tackle totals and the deep defensive tackle rotation in Philadelphia makes him a non-factor in most IDP leagues.
A big free-agent addition from Green Bay, Jenkins will likely serve as Philadelphia's premier interior pass rusher. He might not be a good IDP option, however, because Philadelphia is loaded on the interior line and will rotate often.
Jenkins finished second on the Packers with 4.5 sacks in 2009. He'll compete for time along the defensive line in 2010.
Jenkins was off to a terrific start to the 2008 season before missing the final 12 games with a torn pectoral muscle. He is expected to be back at full strength this year and will likely start at defensive end in the new 3-4 alignment. He should be good for a few sacks, but it won't be enough to make him an option in all but the deepest of IDP leagues.
After a promising 6.5 sacks in 2006, Jenkins regressed to just one sack last season. He'll start at defensive end opposite Aaron Kampman. Kampman should receive a good number of double teams, meaning it will be up to Jenkins' level of play how many sacks he notches. He has nice potential but must prove he can take advantage of his opportunities.
Jenkins earned his stripes during the Packers four-game winning streak to end the 2006 season, including a three-sack performance against Detroit on Dec. 17. He is the starting defensive end for the 2007 season, and it will be interesting to see how they will balance his playing time with fan favorite Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila.
Jenkins will challenge for a defensive tackle spot.
