Past Fantasy Outlooks

2009
Hamilton was expected to play a bruiser role in 2010, similar to the one held by Mike Bell in the Saints' Super season in 2009. However, an injury derailed his season before it began and Chris Ivory was the back to emerge was Pierre Thomas spent most of the year injured. Hamilton is healthy again this year but faces an uphill battle, particularly after the Saints drafted Mark Ingram in the first round of the NFL Draft. While he will likely hold little value as a Saint, there is a good chance Hamilton is released. Should he wind up elsewhere, he could be a deep sleeper.
Hamilton spent much of last year on the Saints' inactive list after making the roster as the team's fourth-string running back. With the departure of Mike Bell via free agency, Hamilton seems poised to assume the role of short-yardage specialist and closer, a potentially fantasy-relevant opportunity in the Saints potent offense. So long as the bruiser beats out PJ Hill for the roster spot, he could be a deep sleeper in a touchdown-heavy league.
Hamilton is in competition for the third running back position on the Saints' roster behind Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. If he wins the spot, he will likely serve as a short-yardage specialist, a role in which he served on the practice squad last year. With the Saints lacking a proven between-the-tackles runner, Hamilton could receive some carries and possibly even a few touchdowns if he makes the roster.
