McKnight was released by the Jets Tuesday, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.

ANALYSIS
McKnight cracked his knee cap in practice and was likely to miss the next few weeks, which would have left him with little time to pass the likes of Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill on the Jets' depth chart. Missing most of last season with an ACL injury did not help his cause either.
