ANALYSIS
Roman was steady when he saw action at safety this season, although his stats don't make him worthy of IDP consideration. He'll be a free agent this offseason, but could be back with the team unless the 49ers look to add another safety to the mix.

Roman will serve as the back-up at free safety. He could see some time at strong safety as well.

Roman is expected to compete for the starting safety position in 2008.

Signed by the 49ers after being released by the Packers last year during training camp. He ended up as the starting free safety, earning a three-year deal with SF last December. Roman should have make more of an impact as the center-fielder due to the increase in takent in front of him, though he may need to hold off Keith Lewis to remain the starter.

Will get a shot in training camp to be the 49ers' starting free safety. If he wins the job, should provide a decent number of tackles from the position with few interceptions and sacks. If he loses that battle, will be in nickel and dime packages.
