Dimitri Patterson: Past News Updates ( ▲ View most recent update )
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Patterson went missing for a 48-hour period over the weekend, failing to contact the Jets or show up for Saturday's preseason game. As the team aims to find out what led to his unusual behavior, the cornerback will be suspended until further notice. The journeyman battled multiple lower body injuries earlier in training camp, but general manager John Idzik said Patterson is now fine physically. While more news regarding Patterson's curious time away should surface in the coming days, his absence leaves an already depleted Jets' secondary even thinner for the time being.
Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Patterson was expected to be ready for the season opener, and the most recent news points towards the possibility of an even earlier return. He is dealing with multiple injuries to his ankle, calf, and quad, leaving the team's two starting cornerbacks (Patterson and Dee Millner) sidelined.
RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Dimitri Patterson.
The Dolphins liked what they saw from Patterson in a limited amount of time last season, but not so much that they didn't draft three corners in this year's draft. Patterson will be hard pressed to make the team out of camp and certainly won't start.
After earning nine starts and posting career-highs of four interceptions and 52 tackles in 2010, Patterson had a quiet 2011. He returns to Cleveland this season looking to beat out 33-year-old veteran Sheldon Brown for the starting spot opposite Joe Haden, but he's most likely ticketed for another reserve role and charged with manning the slot. If given the nod over Brown, there is some potential in deep IDP formats as he'll be attacked often and given plenty of chances to make plays.
Patterson is likely headed to the practice squad.
