RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Brad Jones.
Jones signed with the team in March, but it seems his stay in Philadelphia might be a short one. The Eaglesí inside linebacker position is crammed with talent, and Jones likely wonít make the cut. He could be retained as a practice squad player, or look for work elsewhere.
Jones missed four games last season due to injury, but still managed to post a career-high 84 tackles (60 solo) to go with three sacks, one fumble forced, and one fumble recovery. Despite those numbers, Jones' play was fairly inconsistent at inside linebacker, which could result in Jabari Lattimore pushing him for snaps this season. Nonetheless, Jones is Green Bay's current starter next to A.J. Hawk, which should place him on the IDP radar as a steady but unspectacular option.
Jones will start at one of the inside linebacker positions opposite A.J. Hawk in the Packers' 3-4 defensive scheme. After moving inside and starting 10 games last season, totaling 77 tackles, the Packers opted to sign him to a multi-year contract.
Jones will provide depth at outside linebacker and will see snaps when the starters need a breather.
Jones will try to win an outside linebacker spot.
Jones was thrust into a starting role when Aaron Kampman was lost for the season due to injury. He recorded four sacks as a rookie in 2009, but will still need to compete for a spot in 2010.
