Prince Amukamara: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Amukamara (groin), who was previously expected to undergo an MRI on Monday, won't need such testing now that he's feeling better, Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Amukamara pulled out of Saturday's preseason game after tweaking his groin but said afterward that he could still jog and cut without problem. The cornerback just couldn't run full speed, which is why he sat out the remainder of Saturday's exhibition contest. With his groin now feeling improved, the Giants' No. 1 cornerback will likely be eased back into practice this week, but it appears he avoided a more concerning setback.
Amukamara (groin) will undergo an MRI, according to Giants' coach Tom Coughlin, the New York Daily News reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Amukamara left Saturday's preseason game with a groin strain, but told reporters afterward that he didn't feel a pop and was able to both jog and cut while on the sidelines. That being said, Amukamara also revealed that he doubted his ability to go full-speed, so that's why he never returned to Saturday's game. For further clarification on Amukamara's ailment, he'll have an MRI performed on his sore groin. While coach Coughlin is reportedly concerned about his No. 1 cornerback's status, the MRI results should be most telling.
Amukamara exited Saturday's preseason game with a groin strain, ESPN.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Amukamara was ruled out for the game, leaving Walter Thurmond to play across from Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the base defense.
Amukamara will have his fifth-year contract option exercised by the Giants, the New York Daily News reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Amukamara now stands to be under contract through 2015, although the Giants could either negotiate a long-term extension or cut the cornerback over that span as well. Keeping Amukamara around gives New York further security in the secondary, a unit that added Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond this offseason. In the only complete season of his three-year career, Amukamara totaled 85 tackles (76 solo) and one interception during 2013.
Amukamara (concussion) is active for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

2014

2013

Former first-round pick, will start opposite Corey Webster. Amukamara is emerging as a top NFL corner, but it's likely more action will go Webster's way as a result, so don't expect huge IDP numbers.

2012

With Terrell Thomas out indefinitely due to a knee injury, Amukamara should get a chance to start opposite Corey Webster. Expect opposing teams to test him early, so the former first-rounder should have a chance to establish himself as a playmaker.

2011

The team's No, 1 pick, Amukamara will likely play in nickel and dime packages initially, but could eventually push Terrell Thomas and/or Corey Webster for a starting role.
