Rutland was re-signed by the Jaguars on Friday, according to the Florida Times-Union.

ANALYSIS
Rutland had been released a few weeks ago to make room for Chris Harris on the roster. With Rashean Mathis injured and questionable for Sunday, the Jaguars are just looking to add some depth to the secondary. Rutland does not carry much for fantasy value at this point.

Rutland will add depth to Jacksonville's secondary.

Rutland is a legitimate candidate to be the team's fourth cornerback heading into 2012, ahead of Ashton Youboty, Will Middleton and rookie Mike Harris. The Jags secondary, arguably the team's weakest position in 2010, made an impressive turnaround last season, despite sending a surprisingly high number of players to IR. Rutland was a key beneficiary of the injury bug that decimated the unit, allowing him playing time as a starter in four games. Rashean Mathis' health is still a question mark and if the veteran's unable to go, Rutland could find himself creeping up the depth chart.
