Lattimore (knee) will begin training camp on the non-football injury list, ESPN Insider Field Yates reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Lattimore sat out the entire 2013 campaign while recovering from a serious knee injury, but remains in the final stage of his rehab process. No new complications have surfaced regarding the injury, as the move is said to be merely procedural. Lattimore was a full participant in May's OTAs, and expects to finally be ready to contribute in the 2014 campaign, where he'll compete with Kendall Hunter and Carlos Hyde for carries behind starter Frank Gore.

Lattimore's recovery from his knee injury is progressing well, but he may have sustained another undisclosed injury, CSN Bay Area reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Lattimore won't be a full participant for the 49ers' rookie minicamp this weekend, and coach Jim Harbaugh stated that "it's not the knee" and that "it's something else that [Lattimore] is working through." While the team refuses the disclose the type of injury, it seems as though it isn't severe. Lattimore expects to be part of a three-back rotation this season with fellow teammates Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde.
Lattimore (knee), who has not experienced any setbacks in the course of his offseason workouts, is slated to be present for the opening of the 49ers' offseason program on Monday, csnbayarea.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Lattimore, who finished the 2013 season on the team's non-football injury list, is in line to be a full participant in all of the 49ers' upcoming conditioning and football activities. With Anthony Dixon having signed with the Bills and LaMichael James a candidate to be moved by the team, Lattimore, assuming his health, figures to have a chance to make a splash with the 49ers in 2014, working in tandem with veteran Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter.
Lattimore (knee) says that he feels "close to 100-percent and is counting down the days until he can run free and easy for the San Francisco 49ers," the Associated Press reports. "The left knee, it feels like nothing ever happened," added Lattimore. "The right knee, it feels great. Both feel balanced. I've got my speed and I rarely get any soreness" after workouts.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Lattimore presents a very interesting option to fantasy owners this year, particularly those in keeper leagues. The 49ers remain committed to Frank Gore and are still working with both Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James, but Gore is on the wrong side of 30 and neither Hunter nor James have done much to push for additional carries. Should the team genuinely be looking for an explosive runner to complement Gore this season and really lighten the veteran's load, Lattimore has the skill set to leapfrog his competition and be that guy. Keep an eye out for him during team OTAs and watch how much they work him in the preseason this summer. He could prove to be a fantastic late-round sleeper and potential keeper for the next several years.

2013

Lattimore, a rookie out of South Carolina, has dealt with two major knee injuries but could be a long-term home run pick for the 49ers given his talent as a running back.
