The Bears re-signed Umodu to their practice squad Sunday after cutting him a day earlier, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Umodu attracted some attention in the preseason for his unique, yoga-influenced celebration of a blocked punt he returned for a touchdown, but even the Bears' rash of injuries at receiver weren't enough for the undrafted free agent to crack the roster. Still, he demonstrated enough potential on special teams to stick around in the organization, and could be added to the 53-man roster at some point later in the season.

An undrafted wideout from Northern Arizona, Umodu recorded 47 catches for 692 yards and five touchdowns as a redshirt senior this past fall, earning a spot on the All-Big Sky honorable mention team. Those numbers aren’t particularly impressive at the FBS level, much less in a conference like the Big Sky that doesn’t often churn out professional players. Umodu gives the Bears some favorable size (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) to work with, but he’d do well to claim a practice squad spot at the end of camp.
