RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Anthony Wright.

2008

Will vie for third string quarterback job.

2006

Wright is an insurance policy that the Bengals don’t want to have to claim come September. They’re hoping for a complete recovery from Carson Palmer, who their doctors fully expect to return to the NFL battlefield eight short months after having his ACL and various other ligaments ripped to shreds. Wright was well below average across the board for the Ravens last year. But he would have a far superior supporting cast if he were forced to take the reins in Cincy. Wright’s strong-armed reputation is supported by his 55-percent completion rate on throws 11-to-20 yards last year. But we’re working on a small sample size (59 attempts) here and throughout his stat profile. He did complete over 60 percent of his passes last year, but was given a higher percentage of shorter throws than most QBs. Wright is 30 years old. He’s been a mediocre NFL backup throughout his career. Should Palmer suffer a setback at any point, it’s very likely the Bengals will pony up some cash and sign a veteran like Kerry Collins before handing over the reins to Wright. So, if you’re going to bother drafting him at all, only do it very late in very deep leagues.

2005

The backup to Kyle Boller, Wright could conceivably see starting time if Boller doesn't develop as expected this year.

2004

Wright will miss all of training camp and his time table for returning to the field is still up in the air.

2003

Wright was last year's third string quaterback for the Ravens, he never entered a game. He suited up four times as the No. 2 guy, but never got rid of the clip board for the pigskin. Not much should change this year.
