Hoover will try to make the Colts roster as a fullback, but Indianapolis hasn't traditionally used a fullback often and has a surplus of talented tight ends and H-back types. It's hard to see Hoover having a large role as a result.
Starting fullback that paved the way for the NFL's third-best rushing attack in 2008. Hoover will remain the starter for at least one more season in Carolina, but fantasy owners will only need to be concerned about his status if they're DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart owners.
Hoover is again going to serve as the Panthers' starting fullback -- a role that doesn't yield a great deal of fantasy upside as he'll only receive 20-25 total touches over the course of the season.
Hoover is the Panthers' starting fullback and in that role, his touches will be extremely limited. He's more valuable to DeAngelo Williams and DeShaun Foster owners than to anyone else.
With Carolina experiencing a rash of injuries to their backfield in 2004, Hoover was moved over to starting tailback for a few games and was adequate in that role. Hoover's main role on the Panthers, however, is clearing up space for the talented slew of running backs as he's the Panthers' top fullback and will be opening up holes for the likes of DeShaun Foster, Stephen Davis, Eric Shelton, and Nick Goings. It's hard to see Hoover being of much value in fantasy leagues in this capacity.
Hoover resigned with the Panthers and will reprise his role as starting fullback. Stephen Davis will cut his carries down from 2002's 31, but Hoover can catch well out of the backfield and could post 20 receptions for 200 yards in 2003.
