The Texans signed Nall on Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Nall, who spent three weeks with Houston last season, will back up starting quarterback Sage Rosenfels, who is filling in for the injured Matt Schaub (knee). The club did not want to go into Sunday's game against Baltimore with only rookie Alex Brink as its backup QB.
Nall will be the backup QB to Brett Favre on Sunday due to a hamstring injury to Aaron Rodgers.

The Bills simply love rookie Trent Edwards, so with Nall being a No. 3 guy, that really wouldn't work all season. At least this way he has a chance to get picked up by someone else with a better angle on emergency playing time.
Nall finished preseason with just 19 attempts, completing 12 of those for 121 yards. Meanwhile, rookie Trent Edwards connected on an impressive 46 of 61 throws for 432 yards, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 99.9. "Iíd like to be out there getting as many snaps as possible," Nall told The Buffalo News. "It hasnít worked out that way this year, but all I can do is just play the hand Iíve been dealt. Iíve wrestled with it."

Nall's future is murky. He is signed through next season, but the Bills are apparently getting more and more comfortable with the idea of rookie Trent Edwards backing up J.P. Losman, The Buffalo News reports.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Craig Nall.

2007

Nall should be the No. 2 quarterback for the Bills this season. He was expected to compete for the starting job last year, but injured his hamstring in camp and spent the season as the No. 3 man. The Bills are now committed to J.P. Losman, and Nall should only see action if Losman goes down. Nall has not seen action since 2004 but has plenty of experience as a backup man and a good understanding of the offense. Promising roookie Trent Edwards will push him, but we think Nall will win the top backup job, at least for this season.

2006

The Bills signed Nall because they liked the raw skills he possesses, even if he almost never saw the field behind Brett Favre. The Bills are also looking for a three-way competition to spur up their level of performance at quarterback with the hope that one of them takes off. Nall, 27, has the least game experience between him, Kelly Holcomb and J.P. Losman. He has shown some potential during his stint as Favre's backup for the Packers in 2004. During that time, he threw for 314 yards, four touchdowns and sustained a 139.4 QB rating. Still, most of this playing time came in games that were out of reach, against second-string defenses, and he doesn't have much of a track record even dating back to college. He had a bit of a tough time grasping the new offense in early minicamps, so it's looking like he'll start the season as the #3 guy, looking to work his way up if the other two crap out.

2005

Nall has spent a number of seasons buried on the QB depth chart in Green Bay and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better. He'll be battling for the third string spot again this year.
