RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Antonio Garay.
Garay will work as a reserve defensive end for the Jets.
Garay had a productive season in 2011 racking up 57 total tackles and 2.5 sacks while starting 13 games. He returns as the starting nose tackle in 2012, but Cam Thomas figures to get plenty of playing time as well.
Heading into his sixth season with just 17 tackles in his career, Garay was more than a slight long shot to emerge as a viable starting nose tackle in San Diego's 3-4 last year. Despite the bad odds, Garay was up to the task. He finished with 48 tackles (37 solo) and 5.5 sacks as the Chargers allowed just 3.7 yards per carry last year, the fifth-best total in the league. As long as Cam Thomas doesn’t eat into his snap count, Garay should be good for another low-ceiling, moderate-floor season in 2011.
Garay will add depth to the Chargers nose tackle spot since Jamal Williams is no longer with the team.
Garay will provide depth for the Bears at defensive tackle.
Garay will be a reserve defensive tackle for the Bears.
the second-year defensive lineman comes off a rookie season in which he played four games. He garnered 10 total tackles. Garay may see a bit more time in 2004, but do not expect too much production from him.
