The 27-year-old left tackle made his first Pro-Bowl appearance in 2004. After starting all 16 games last year, he showed little difficulty in switching from right tackle to the left tackle spot.
With Wayne Gandy now in New Orleans, Smith assumes the all important position of left tackle (LT) on the Steelers offensive line. Armed with a new contract, Smith feels up to the task of adjusting to the new position. He played LT in college but understands the intricacies of the pro game at LT provide a whole new learning curve.
