Hardwick has been San Diego's starting center since 2004 and is considered the leader of the offensive line, but he is recovering from offseason foot surgery. It is unclear whether or not he will be ready to inf time for the start of the season.

Hardwick was selected to his first pro-bowl in 2006 and is widely considered to the leader of the offensive line from his position at center.

The third year player will return as the starting center in 2006.

2005

Hardwick will be the starting center this season. He played very well in 2004 despite missing some time with a knee injury. He secured the starting job last year after the previous season's incumbent (Jason Ball) got involved in a nasty contract dispute.

The third round draft choice might be rushed into service sooner than expected in 2004 since the projected opening day starter at center is in the midst of contract squabbles with the team. Hardwick has average speed and solid upper body strength.
