2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Orlovsky will likely be Matthew Stafford's backup this season, only seeing time if injury befalls Stafford. If Orlovsky should move into the role, he'll be at the helm of a powerful offense....

Orlovsky will slot in line as the Bucs' top backup to starter Josh Freeman, with Josh Johnson expected to leave in free agency. He's not the most dynamic choice, but he does have a fair amount of NFL starting experience, including five starts last season due to Peyton Manning's injury.
Orlovsky was 27-of-40 for 264 yards with a touchdown, but two interceptions, in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

Subscribe now to see our 2014 outlook.

2013

Will battle with rookie Mike Glennon to keep the No.2 QB job.

2012

Orlovsky will be the backup QB for the Bucs in 2012 and should provide solid veteran leadership and mentoring for young starter Josh Freeman, as well as a steady-if-not-spectacular backup option in case of injury.

2011

He'll battle Curtis Painter for the backup quarterback job.

2010

Orlovsky moves up the depth chart to second position behind starter Matt Schaub. He was inactive as the Texans' third quarterback in all 16 games in 2009, a testament to Schaub's good health. Schaub hasn't always been so lucky, so keep Orlovsky's name on hand should Schaub be forced to miss some time.

2009

Orlovsky enters training camp as Matt Schaub's backup, even with the late addition of the more-seasoned Rex Grossman. Orlovsky has a similar build as Schaub and has similarities in the passing game, as well, which head coach Gary Kubiak likes. Grossman will be given an opportunity to compete, but Orlovsky has the lead entering the summer, based on the head start he's had in learning the offense. Fantasy owners will want to keep a close eye on which quarterback becomes Schaub's backup, as Schaub has run into injury problems in each of two years with Houston.

2008

Offensive coordinator Jim Colletto promised an open competition at QB, but Jon Kitna is all but assured the job. Orlovsky will battle hometown product Drew Stanton for the backup spot.

2007

Orlovsky starts the year as Jon Kitna's primary backup. He will be pushed by rookie Drew Stanton, who the Lions likely view as the future once Kitna is gone.

2006

Orlovsky enters the 2006 season as the Lions' third-string quarterback behind Jon Kitna and Josh McCown. He's a big, strong smart quarterback, but won't see the field without injuries to the other two. He could push McCown for the backup job, but he will likely be holding a clipboard all season.

2005

Orlovsky is the third string quarterback.
