Williams figures to catch on elsewhere as a depth receiver/special teamer, but the Redskins have bolstered their wideout corps since the end of the NFL lockout, which squeezes Williams out.

Depth at wide receiver.
The former Tulane star posted over 700 yards and four touchdowns just two years ago, but he has fallen off drastically since then. He was released by the Redskins in August after suffering a fractured finger.
A physical receiver with decent size, Williams had a productive season a year ago, averaging 7.7 yards per target in an unfriendly passing system and scoring four touchdowns. With Mike Heimerdinger replacing Norm Chow as the team's offensive coordinator, the Titans are likely to be more aggressive in the passing game, and Williams and teammates Justin Gage and Alge Crumpler stand to benefit. Williams, who broke his ankle in January and had screws inserted into his lower leg to stimulate healing, is expected to be ready for the start of the season, but check his status before drafting.
Williams has the opportunity to have his best season with the Titans in 2007. He is a strong, physical reciever with big play potential. Currently, he is in the mix to get playing time for the Titans at wide receiver. A strong camp and preseason could move Williams up the depth chart. Last season he played in 14 games and caught eight passes for 121 yards.
Williams is not in a great situation this year, as the Titans have signed David Givens to start alongside Drew Bennett, and Williams is looking up at Tyrone Calico, Courtney Roby, and Brandon Jones on the depth chart. Unless injuries pile up or he puts together a miraculous showing in the pre-season, don't look for much from Williams.
Williams, one of three wide receivers drafted by Tennessee in 2005 (the others being Brandon Jones and Courtney Roby), is jockeying for position on the depth chart. Early in camp, Williams fell behind Roby and Jones, but preseason can change a lot of things. This will be a position battle to keep an eye on for late value in deep drafts.
