ANALYSIS
The Ravens save $2 million in salary cap space by letting Canty walk. The 11-year veteran notched 19 tackles and one sack in nine games last season. Canty said that he still wants to play next season and will look to join a team in need of defensive line depth.

Canty and Brent Urban are expected to compete for a starting job at defensive end.
Canty, never the type to put up big numbers, is expected to start at defensive end, after recording two sacks and 30 tackles in 15 games during his first season with the Ravens.
Canty will likely see playing time at both defensive tackle and defensive end as a key cog for a deep group of linemen. He won't necessarily be a starter in name, but if healthy, Canty should have a major role. He has never topped 47 tackles or four sacks in a season, so IDP leaguers should look elsewhere.
When healthy, Canty can be a disruptive force in the interior line, and he'll be in the mix, assuming he makes it all the way back from offseason knee surgery.
Starting right defensive tackle.
Coming off an injury-plagued and disappointing season, Canty should be one of the team's starting defensive tackles. While he has some pass rushing skills, he'll be asked mostly to occupy blockers and stop the run.
Canty brings excellent size and strength to the interior of the Giants defensive line. He'll rotate with Fred Robbins, Barry Coefield and Rocky Bernard.
Recorded 3.5 sacks and 43 tackles as an important cog in the Cowboys' DE rotation.
Fighting for a starting spot in the Cowboys' 3-4 defense after recording just one sack in 2006.
Canty was a fourth-round steal in 2005, and should be a starting DT in the Cowboys 3-4 defense. Look for decent tackle numbers and a nice handful of sacks from him in 2006.
A first round talent who slipped in the draft due to injuries, Canty will provide depth up front in the 3-4 defense to begin the season.
