RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Cedric Griffin.
Will compete for a spot as a reserve cornerback and to see time in the nickel and dime packages.
If healthy, Griffin will be a starting cornerback for Minnesota. However, his health is a major question mark since he's torn an ACL in each of his knees the past two years. Grifin tore the ACL in his right knee in October, but it sounds like he has a chance to be ready by the start of the regular season.
When healthy, Griffin is one of Minnesota's starting cornerbacks. However, he's coming back from a torn ACL in last season's NFC Championship game. He could miss a significant portion of the 2010 season as a result. When healthy he puts up strong tackle totals for a cornerback in Minnesota's cover-2 scheme - and also added a career high four picks last season.
Griffin starts at cornerback and gets plenty of balls thrown his way starting opposite Antoine Winfeld. His fantasy value is in his ability to make tackles from the cornerback spot - he had 91 stops last season.
Griffin's IDP value is based soley on his ability to make tackles. In his first season as a starting corner, Griffin racked up 89 tackles. Unfortunately, Griffin didn't pick off a single pass last year and will need to improve on his playmaking skills to become a better fantasy asset.
Griffin enters the 2007 as the Vikings' starting cornerback opposite Antoine Winfield. He didn't pick off many passes in college (three in four years), but picked off two in his rookie season. He should pick up an average amount of tackles for a cornerback, as he had 36 in limited playing time last year.
Griffin could challenge for the starting nickelback job this summer and has good size (6-2) and tackles well enough to also play safety.
