ANALYSIS
Schouman was released by the Redskins prior to the start of the 2011 season. He will provide depth at the tight end position, but will most likely not make the active squad come September. Schouman's only productive season came in 2008, in which he caught 15 balls for 153 yards and one touchdown for the Bills.

Schouman is expected to compete for a roster spot as a backup tight end.
Schouman is coming back from knee surgery. Although he likes the involvement he feels the tight ends will have in coach Chan Gailey's new offense, Schouman probably won't have much value in his own right with the potential emergence of Shawn Nelson. However, he may do just enough things well to keep Nelson's value at bay as well. We'll see how things shake out in the tight end corps once the preseason rolls around.
Schouman looks like a frontrunner for the starting tight role along with Derek Fine, as quarterback Trent Edwards feels most comfortable with him among the tight ends. Schouman may win the starting role, but our gut is that Fine and rookie Shawn Nelson will also see some looks. And then you have all the other weapons the Bills use in the passing game. That makes Schouman an option in only deep leagues, and that's if he wins the job outright.
Schouman was promoted from the practice squad midway through last season and got to taste NFL action for a few weeks before injuring his ankle. He’ll return in 2008 as a more experienced player, and if offseason practices were any indication, a much improved player. Schouman is the favorite to win the backup tight end job with the potential to see time as the starter since he’s a better pass-catcher than Robert Royal. Either way, we generally advise steering clear of Buffalo tight ends, and Schouman is no exception.
