Gives the Pats' D-line depth and flexibilty with his ability to play both DT and DE.
Brace, a second-rounder last year, provides insurance, both short and long term, for stud nose tackle Vince Wilfork, as well as DE Ty Warren.
Brace, a second-rounder in April's draft, gives the Pats some depth on their vaunted defensive line, which they will need next year with several linemen in the last year of their contracts. The team still hopes to work things out with Vince Wilfork, but if that doesn't happen, Brace would be counted on to fill the big guy's shoes.
