RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Sergio Kindle.
Kindle is a fantastic athlete, but he's had awful luck and made some poor decisions as well. He suffers from narcolepsy and is deaf in one ear after fracturing his skull before the 2010 season in an accident related to the sleep disorder. As a result, he struggles to hear the play calls on defense, so the Ravens are petitioning the NFL to allow Kindle to wear a headset in his helmet. If the league agrees, it would certainly help Kindle's cause, but at this point he probably won't be much more than a special teams player, or perhaps a situational pass rusher.
Kindle's potential is entirely unknown heading into the season. He missed his rookie year due to a hairline fracture in his skull suffered during a nasty tumble down a flight of stairs. Prior to the injury he was considered one of the premiere pass rushers in his draft class. He has a great opportunity to produce opposite Terrell Suggs. His ceiling is incredibly high, but he still needs to adjust to playing again.
Kindle was considered a steal by many when he fell to the Ravens in the second round of April's draft. A supremely talented pass rusher, Kindle still needs to overcome concerns about his character and his right knee. Still, all indications are that he'll see the field this season, though perhaps not enough to make him a viable IDP option just yet.
