Jernigan, who caught two passes for 15 yards on two targets Sunday against the Cardinals, thus looks iffy, at best, for Week 3's contest against the Texans.

Jernigan didn't practice Monday due to a knee concern, NJ.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Jernigan is expected to make a prompt return to drills Tuesday, but the absence marks his second as a result of the injury in less than a week. After coming off the bench and snagging two passes for 13 yards in the Hall of Fame Game, he failed to reel in his sole target as a starter Saturday versus the Steelers. Meanwhile, the Giants' receiving corps is pretty banged up at the moment, meaning Jernigan's ultimate role may not be known until shortly before Week 1.
Jernigan started Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers with the Giants once again opening in a three-wide set, NJ.com's Jordan Raanan reports.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2015

There was no outlook written for Jerrel Jernigan.

2014

Jernigan made an impression late in 2013 when injuries to other receivers opened up some targets for him, but the Giants didn't show a lot of confidence in the undersized speedster when they drafted Odell Beckham 12th overall and brought back Mario Manningham for another go-round. It may take more injuries for Jernigan to prove his Week 15-17 production (20 catches, 237 yards, two TDs, plus another 57 rushing yards and a rushing TD) was no fluke.

2013

Will vie for a reserve WR role and a job in the return game.

2012

Last year's third-round pick has good speed and should see some time as a return man. He's also got an outside shot at winning the third or fourth receiver job.

2011

The Giants have two productive players at receiver already, but Hakeem Nicks has never been able to stay healthy for a full season. Taken with the 83rd overall pick, Jernigan is small (5-9, 185), but heís fast, extremely quick and dangerous in the open the field. Heíll likely return punts and kicks to start, but his role as a receiver could grow if the teamís starters canít stay healthy.
