Posey was waived by the Ravens on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Posey had an encouraging preseason in which the 28-year old appeared to be building a rapport with rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, but he evidently did not show well enough to secure a spot on the Raven's 53-man roster. The 2012 third-rounder will become an unrestricted free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Posey came over to Baltimore early in the offseason before the team completely retooled its receiving corps with Michael Crabtree, John Brown, and Willie Snead. As such, Posey is battling with several other receivers for a final roster spot. He hasn't recorded a catch in the NFL since 2014 when he was on the Texans.
Posey comes to Denver on a reserves/futures contract. He failed to stick in Houston, where he recorded just 22 catches in three years after being taken in the third round. He did not play in 2015 and he does not have any easy path to the field in Denver. The team is looking to run more two-back and two-tight end sets – already leaving opportunities at a premium. Cody Latimer and Bennie Fowler both represent younger options, and unlike Jordan Norwood, Posey does not offer experience as a returner. Posey was released after the third preseason game.
With the addition of Brandon Marshall and rookie Devin Smith to the Jets' receiving corps, it will be tough for Posey to make the official roster.
Leg issues limited Posey in his second season, opening the door for Keshawn Martin to step ahead of him on the Texans' depth chart. He's got more upside than Martin though, and if he stays healthy in 2014 he could see a decent number of targets as the no. 3 receiver in new coach Bill O'Brien's offense.
Posey is likely to open the season on the PUP list, as he is recovering from offseason surgery on his torn Achilles. Upon his return, he's expected to elevate to as high as the No. 3 wideout.
At 6-1, 211, and with decent downfield speed, Posey is a solid route runner and tough, physical receiver. He's had some issues with drops, and he's not especially explosive, but he's plenty polished enough to contribute as a rookie. With only Andre Johnson -- who's been injury prone the last two years -- and the pedestrian Kevin Walter ahead of him, Posey has a chance for a significant role this season. Just keep in mind that when healthy Johnson dominates the targets, tight end Owen Daniels and tailback Arian Foster are used heavily in the passing game and the Texans are a run-first team, especially around the goal line.
