Zach Mettenberger: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Mettenberger (knee/back) has signed a four-year deal with the Titans, the Tennessean reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Mettenberger continues to bounce back from an ACL injury, but he could turn into a sixth-round draft bargain for the Titans down the road, given his arm strength. For the time being, he slots in behind Jake Locker and Charlie Whitehurst, with Tyler Wilson also in the team's QB mix.
The Titans selected Mettenberger (knee/back) in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, 178th overall.

Mettenberger failed a drug test at the NFL Combine, but according to his agent, Joe Linta, the diluted drug sample was due to treatment for cramping and not the use of illegal drugs, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports.

Mettenberger, who suffered a torn ACL on Nov. 29, said that he will be healthy for NFL training camp, Newsday's Bob Glauber reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Mettenberger's recovery seems to be going better than expected, as he's already running and throwing. Despite the positive progress and what he said Saturday, the LSU product is no lock to be ready for training camp or even the start of the 2014 season. He'll likely be drafted in the second or third round, though it wouldn't be shocking if some team becomes enamored enough with his arm strength and ideal size (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) to pick Mettenberger in the first round.
Mettenberger (ACL) is expected to resume throwing within a week, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Mettenberger suffered the tear Nov. 29, so he's a prime candidate to start the year on the PUP list. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound passer has the size and rare arm strength to tempt teams in the second round despite his concerning injury, and he'll continue to move toward that possibility if his recovery goes well. By all available accounts to this point, Mettenberger's recovery has been going as planned, and perhaps even a bit better than that.
Mettenberger, a quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft class, suffered a torn ACL and MCL against Arkansas on Friday, ESPN.com reports.
